McCain versus Reality = Palin & McCain Shotgun Wedding

The real contest in the presidential race is Reality versus John McCain with the biggest loser to date being John McCain.

The man who would have been president in 2000 -  John McCain - did not stand up strong enough against the smear tactics of his low brow rival - What Me Worry GW Bush Jr. - when the seamy racial tactics were used to frighten the radical right - swirling rumors that McCain had fathered an inter-racial child. Instead, McCain capitulated to a higher calling to hold the Republican party together and stood like John Kerry in his Swift Boat hour - not answering directly, clearly and forcefully - declaring the truth.

In one of the great ironies of our time, McCain in this campaign capitulated with the low brow tactics of his management team - pandering to the radical right at the cost of alienating everyone else.  Therefore, What Me Worry Bush will defeat John McCain one more time - handing him the worst record on every platform - the wrong war, the failing economy, the  distraught environment -  all mishandled by this Republican administration. Tough Karma.

The pick of Sarah Palin was the Death Knell on McCain's campaign doorstep -- because it revealed the true pursuit of John McCain - claiming the presidency at any cost.  McCain was willing to write off the Hillary Democrats he desperately needed, along with the Jewish vote that is uncomfortable with religious right fanatics (and Jews vote), along with the new young college educated vote that is rightly encouraged by the Obama campaign to voice their distress with the status quo, and of course, the Black vote that will turn out in record numbers this year to claim victory for the first Black president.

Reality reared its ugly head this campaign in many ways - the first Black candidate with serious chops to fight the party in power has appeal to young voters - who are sick of this dysfunctional Republican administration that has sent the country to the wrong war and mishanded the economy - leaving the young generation a future without promise.  Young voters understand that they are getting screwed - my own son reminds me every time he comes home to visit - their distrust and dislike of the older  generation is palpable.

The economy landed the final blow to the McCain campaign - Reality triumphs once again.
