It is hard to identify the greater crime committed by the National Football League (NFL) -- the non-profit league that represents the most popular sport in America, watched by millions of fans each week, raking in millions of dollars in tax-free ad revenue each game played each year -- versus the protection of domestic violence abusers who are players in the sport that creates the millions of dollars in the tax-free revenue stream.

The NFL has taken advantage of the American love of the game and thrown the finger to the sports hungry public by denying a relief in the tax-base that could be balanced by the tax contributions of the FOR-PROFIT REALITY of the NFL league..

Forbes Magazine reports, "the NFL is by far the most popular sport on television and media right fees underpin the league’s sweeping increase in team values. Thanks to new broadcasting deals with NBC, ESPN, CBS and Fox that begin with the 2014 season, evenly-split revenue will increase to $250 million over the next four years. In addition, the league’s one-year Thursday Night Football deal with CBS will add $275 million in revenue to the league this season."

This year, Senators Tom Coburn (R-Okla) and Angus King (I-Maine) introduced the PRO-Sports Act to address this financial issue based on the premise that it is unfair to the American tax-payer. “Tax earmarks are essentially tax increases for everyone who doesn't receive the benefit. In this case, working Americans are paying artificially high rates in order to subsidize special breaks for sports leagues. This is hardly fair,” explained Sen. Coburn.

The NFL felt an earthquake this past month, when video emerged of Baltimore Ravens star running back Ray Rice knocking out his fiancee inside an elevator at a casino in New Jersey. The video shows that Rice drags her limp body onto the floor after the knock-out, once the elevator doors open. Rice steps past her and leaves her motionless body unintended, knocked out. The punishment for the crime of domestic abuse??? The NFL suspended the Ravens running back for just two games after Rice was charged with knocking his fiancee unconscious during the an altercation. Really????

The Baltimore Ravens released Rice, who was suspended indefinitely by the NFL, after the video was released online by TMZ, showing the NFL star knocking out his fiancee. "The Baltimore Ravens terminated the contract of RB Ray Rice this afternoon," stated the press release. More importantly, Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters that the team had not seen the video before it was released online by TMZ. Really??????

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the man responsible for giving Rice the two-game ban, then increased the suspension after viewing the video online for the first time. It is difficult to believe that the NFL did not have knowledge nor access to the security videos at the casino in New Jersey.

In response, Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.) introduced legislation that stripes professional sports leagues -- including the NFL -- of the tax-exempt status. The bill is entitled, The Securing Assistance for Victim Empowerment (SAVE) Act -- it is estimated to raise $100 million over 10 years for domestic violence assistance programs.

"Stopping domestic violence is a national priority that requires long-term, meaningful investment,” said Booker. “This common sense update to our tax laws would save more than $100 million over 10 years, money that can instead be used to pay for vital support programs that have seen their funding slashed in recent years due to sequestration and gridlock.” Which NFL crime is worse? Cheating Americans out of the NFL contribution to the national economic tax base??? Or protecting the NFL players in the game convicted of domestic abuse??

It seems the public is left holding the clean-up bill in either case.

This is a tough one, when a person who has brought so much joy into our lives, an outstanding comedian, leaves us too soon by taking his own life -- exposing the sadness underneath. It is an illusion that was shattered, but it does not explain the anguish of this shattered man.

We feel guilty. It is almost too much to comprehend that the person who was endlessly energetic was battling his demons along life's path. The persona of Robin Williams was happy, the person in Robin Williams was very sad.

We believed Robin Williams was rich, apparently he was facing the financial strains of two failed marriages, two divorces creating lots of pressure. Williams, the man, supported two households of ex-spouses and children, but many people strain to provide for their loved ones.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2010 to discuss the movie, 'World's Greatest Dad,' Williams shared this truth, "I was shameful, did stuff that caused disgust – that's hard to recover from."

He is referring to his relapse with alcoholism and cocaine drug use. The journalist wrote, "It is almost impossible to get anything coherent out of him about the film, or any of the issues it raises. He is vague, tangential and at times more or less incomprehensible – until the conversation turns to more personal matters, at which point he becomes lucid and forthcoming.... Williams really wants to talk about.......... is his relapse into alcoholism, his rehab and his open-heart surgery."

This is a man who could not hide from his heart.

He performed for U.S. troops overseas in battle scarred areas of the world numerous times over the past ten years; and his work with Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal in Comic Relief, created a national televised fund-raiser phenomenon that raised millions of dollars for the homeless.

Williams was blessed with talent, his creative work as the space alien Mork in the hit sitcom, Mork and Mindy in the 1970s made him a household name. The show dominated the ratings due to Williams' comedic performance, period. Williams also earned several Oscar nominations, for his amazing performance in 'Good Morning Vietnam' in 1988, then for his serious dramatic work in "Dead Poets' Society" in 1989 and in "The Fisher King" in 1991. His heartfelt work in "Good Will Hunting in 1998" finally won him an Oscar.

After his suicide, we found out from Williams wife, Susan Schneider that Williams had been struggling with the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. Wow.... Poor, Rich, Sad, Happy, Robin Williams.... We thank you and bid you adieu. NaNu. NaNu.

“....My more having would be as a make me hunger more: that I should forge....Quarrels unjust against the good and loyal,... Destroying them for wealth.” (Macbeth)

Greed, greed and ...... greed.

It is all about selling the Market Basket real estate -- the successful super market chain that includes 71 retail store locations -- that's the end game of greed for the selfish family shareholders now running Market Basket. The family owners in the hostile takeover that now control the company will make a windfall profit worth billions of dollars selling out the retail real estate to another food chain operation, and many people will lose their jobs.

It is happening right in front of our eyes, the purposeful destruction of a business to prop it up for sale --- Market Basket properties will be sold to Whole Foods Market, Stop & Shop, Wegman's or Hannafords -- competitive chains growing and not divesting. The value is in the real estate -- not the food industry giant that has become a model of success in the multi-billion dollar supermarket business --- customers will lose the deep discounts on food prices that have sky-rocketed since the mortgage fiasco bust in our economy in 2009.

The 71 stores in Market Basket are the only asset that matters -- control of the real estate was the goal of the hostile takeover of the company by Arthur S. DeMoulas -- willing to destroy business operations by discarding his annoying yet effective CEO and cousin Arthur T. DeMoulas. The problem is that the employees revolted, went on strike, refused to work in the warehouse and handle deliveries on the trucks, draining the inventory on hand. The employees on strike include truckers, cashiers, and butchers -- who then called for a boycott of Market Basket -- customers respectfully obliged.

Workers are picketing to reinstate a CEO...... Really. The CEO, Arthur T. Demoulas understood the value of profit-sharing with his workers... and grew the company from the share model passing on savings to the millions of loyal customers.... it is a company that was built on respect for its employees and customers.

It is not about worker rights, as the compassionate crowd would like to believe, it is not about the loyal customers or even the growing popularity of the supermarket chain in this recession weary time -- it is about stopping the selfish desire to sell Market Basket by discharging a CEO that is operating in the company's best interest, then unloading the chain in the marketplace -- and let the best bidder win.

It is a sorry state of affairs -- we are witnessing the end game for Market Basket.... and the current owners are bent on destruction of the business in order to sell off the retail stores. The replacement of the work force has begun, only major interference by the Attorney General's office in Massachusetts (headquarters is Tewksbury, MA) can help save the employees, help save the chain that has helped millions of Americans afford food for their families to eat.

Family Fights.... Tough Karma for Market Basket.

"We’re now faced with a situation, especially in the aftermath of 9/11, where the threat to the United States is increasing. And over time, given Saddam’s posture there, given the fact that he has a significant flow of cash as a result of the oil production of Iraq, it’s only a matter of time until he acquires nuclear weapons.... in light of that, we have to be prepared, I think, to take the action that is being contemplated."

"I really do believe that we will all be treated as liberators...." ... VP Deferment Dicky Cheney on NBC's Meet The Press with Tim Russert - 2003. Deferment Dicky is on the loose again, running crazy at the mouth, scolding our country with impunity that everyone else should fight in wars that Deferment Dicky worked so hard to avoid, receiving five deferments in the Vietnam War. Now, Deferment Dicky is focused on the Ukraine, talking strong language that plays with the facts and provokes strong emotions, ready to send young men into battle and risk their lives for another ugly war. There is no reason for this country to be bullied again by this man without a moral center, to enter into another war, period.

There is no reason to fight overseas for any country -- Ukraine in this case -- that could care less about America -- this is all about weak leadership, Bush and Obama, both not ready for prime time presidents, when tested with crisis. It is nothing but disheartening that during our greatest current upheavals -- September 11, 2001, religious wars by Islamic extremists, the crazed financial service industry housing mortgage crisis, challenging environmental climate changes -- Bush and Obama -- were in charge. Our nation was bullied into the Iraq War -- it is time to say, never again.

Here is the dynamic deferment record of Deferment Dicky -- Cheney managed to avoid military service FIVE TIMES. Deferment Dicky received five deferments -- four deferments for being a student and one deferment for being a new father. It is a stellar deferment record. Really.

It started in 1959, when the Cheney The Coward became eligible for the draft. Deferment Dicky was 18 years old and a student at Yale University -- by the time he was 26 years old in January 1967, and no longer eligible for the draft, Cheney The Coward had received the five deferments.

During his hearings to become Secretary of Defense, Cheney The Coward claimed he "never served" because the deferments were needed to finish a college career that lasted over six years rather than four.(Hmmmmmm) Cheney admitted this was due to his poor academic performance, but added that he "would have obviously been happy to serve had I been called."

Cheney The Coward also told the Washington Post that he sought his deferments because "I had other priorities in the 60's than military service... I don't regret the decisions I made," he added. "I complied fully with all the requirements of the statutes, registered with the draft when I turned 18. Had I been drafted, I would have been happy to serve."

Cheney The Coward, as 46th Vice President of the United States, led us to war in Iraq after the devastation of September 11, 2001 -- working behind the scenes to steer our country's military efforts in the wrong direction, advising a frightened and not ready for prime time President Bush to veer into Iraq, and ignore all reasonable proof that the terrorists did not initiate from Iraq. Deferment Dick actually undermined our national interests while setting up his former employer Halliburton, the business that would outrageously profit from the Iraq War

At his confirmation hearings as defense secretary, Cheney stated that he had not taken any action either for or against the military during the Vietnam War. Cheney stated, "I think those who did in fact serve deserve to be honored for their service." Of American involvement in Vietnam, he said: "Was it a noble cause? Yes, indeed, I think it was."

Again...there is no reason for this country to be bullied again by this man without a moral center, to enter into another war, period. Again, there is no reason to fight overseas for in another country (Ukraine) that could care less about America.... this is all about weak leadership. The Ukraine War????? Totally unforgivable should we give any credence to Deferment Dicky -- Cheney The Coward, the man without a moral center.

Those who love the game of basketball, love the San Antonio Spurs, the NBA Championship team win is Super Sweet -- proving that The SuperTeam beats over-rated The SuperStars.

The Spurs dominated The Heat eastern division champions to win the NBA Championship title. The Spurs had to beat much tougher teams in a more competitive western division to get back at their old foes, the Heat -- whose star player, LeBron James sat out of the last quarter of the NBA Title run for over seven minutes. Really. Working together to rewrite NBA history -- the sour loss in 2013, the Spurs dominated the Heat the entire series, involving every player on the team in the sweet revenge comeback beating tough opponents in the western NBA division.

The Spurs won their fifth NBA title in a performance that humiliated the Heat, blowing out the numbers in the Finals, winning Game 5 104-87, the fifth NBA title in Spurs franchise history. The title also gives veteran Tim Duncan his fifth NBA title, tying him with Kobe Bryant for an active player. Kawhi Leonard, was a powerful force at just 22 years old, he was named the Finals MVP... the youngest player to receive the honor since Tim Duncan in 1999. Coach Gregg Popovich -- now joins the league of coaches who have won five NBA championships.

The Heat fell apart facing the pressure of a real team, a genuine opponent after facing non-combatants in the Eastern NBA division. Spurs leader, veteran Tim Duncan led his big three -- Ginobli and Parker, in a team effort of great players working together, to beat tough teams in the western division, to get back to the spot to compete for the NBA Championship title.

It is not LeBron, Wade and Bosh standing in the limelight, it is Duncan, Parker and Ginobili, who are now the stars, having teamed together for 117 postseason victories, the most by any NBA trio. It is the glorious win of the SuperTeam over the arrogance of players SuperStars who did not understand that winning takes talent and drive..... it is not an anointed NBA cup.
